South West Terminal Ships Canadian Pacific’s Largest Grain Train from Antelope, SK to Thunder Bay, ONT.

Antelope, Saskatchewan – South West Terminal (SWT) is very excited to share the details of loading and launching CanadianPacific’s (CP) largest grain train from a single elevator. With this train, a new record has been set for largest grain train loaded and launched on the Canadian prairies from SWT’s Antelope location. The train, headed for Superior Elevator at the Port of Thunder Bay, included 224 hopper cars containing 22,223 metric tonnes of durum.

“We continue to invest in infrastructure to ensure the grain system is modern and efficient. The recent track expansion at our Antelope facility resulted in three 8,500-foot tracks, providing flexibility to load large grain trains and to unload fertilizer cars at the same time. Our relationship with CP continues to grow as we work towards removing bottlenecks on the prairies and increasing efficiencies for our farmer-customers and end-use customers around the world,” said Monty Reich, General Manager of SWT. “We look forward to enhancing our relationship with CP as we continue to find unique and creative ways to improve the grain supply chain.”

“CP congratulates South West Terminal for successfully loading the longest single-origin grain train with their 224-car train,” said Joan Hardy, Vice-President Sales and Marketing Grain and Fertilizers. “SWT’s investment is creating capacity for grain farmers and the entire supply chain.”
